Pitt Lab for Developmental and Motivational Research
Research Assistant
August 20145 - Present

The Lab for Motivational and Developmental Research is an exploratory lab studying techniques to help middle and high school students stay engaged in school, especially their math and science courses.

We distribute surveys covering a wide range of motivational topics to over 3,000 local students in a variety of school settings. This data is expected to be analyzed in dozens of research papers, covering topics from math anxiety to bullying to race and gender gaps.

I help design and test these surveys in Qualtrics, and after they have been administered I download, clean, and standardize the results in Excel. I also contribute to the lab by writing and editing codebooks and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Marketing Project Leader
Just Harvest
February 2015 - April 2015

I led a small team launching a campaign to raise awareness about the USDA Summer Food Program. Through social media we reached thousands of potential clients and were retweeted by the Mayor of Pittsburgh, the Pittsburgh Food Bank, and other organizations. We also wrote public service announcements to be aired on the radio and distributed hundreds of flyers to local businesses and organizations.

Greeter
Just Harvest
January 2015 - April 2015

As a greeter at Just Harvest's free tax preparation site, I communicated with low-income clients from diverse backgrounds to address their unique needs. After reviewing paperwork, I would recommend programs such as SNAP and Medicaid to eligible clients and connect them with specialists and resources to provide further assistance.

During my first summer at the hospital, I worked as a Transport Volunteer. I discharged patients and escorted them to surgeries and playroom. Next year, I was promoted to Playroom duty. This involved supervising children and playing with them in the hospital's playrooms. Both jobs involved communicating with patients and their families.
