Pistol

Did you know that pistols,

ever so slightly,

light a flame as you shoot them?

and the flame creates a rainbow

of all the colors

that have ever been seen

in anything beautiful.

Did you know that bullets,

ever so slightly,

swirl around as they're coming for you?

and the swirls remind me

of the swirling leaves

from back when my dad used to tell me,

“don't jump in that pile.”

and of the last time,

twelve hours ago,

the last time I saw them swirling.

so beautiful.

so beautiful.

so so so beautiful.

but the thing about this pistol

is when it bangs,

there is no “Bang!” to hear

only the sound of them telling you,

“nobody should ever know what it feels like

to feel this good.”

to which you reply,

“Please, please, please,

please shoot me again.”
